The castle accommodates up to 22 guests across a collection of individually characterful bedrooms.

Ten double or twin rooms each have ensuite bathrooms, alongside two single bedrooms with ensuite or private facilities. Two additional bedrooms with private bathrooms can also be made available for staff or support teams when required. Guests have full use of the castle’s principal rooms throughout their stay, including the Great Hall, Drawing Room and Dining Room, each offering its own atmosphere for gathering, conversation and shared meals.

Please note there is a minimum 2 night stay and the castle is offered as whole rather than on a room by room basis.

Fascinatingly, Jane Austen was a great aunt (x five generations) to Edward Bradford, Kincardine’s current owner.

The enchanting castle is home to numerous artefacts in reference to the famous novelist, including portraits of Jane Austen and her family at Kincardine, and many paintings of Chawton, the Hampshire village where she wrote during the last years of her life. There is also a castle bedroom named after the celebrated author and a collection of her childhood toys.

Even though Jane Austen herself may not have lived in such a grand estate, these connections would have helped place her in the broader world of the upper class, which is often reflected in the settings and social dynamics in her novels, and might well have inspired her writing.
